Goodbye Ox Close

July 19, 2024 by annabowden

We have had a fantastic day to mark the end of another successful academic year. It has also been an emotional one with it being our last day at Ox Close.

Please find attached the final Ox Close Federation Newsletter and Governor Newsletter.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every child, every member of staff, and all of the parents and carers for their efforts, hard work and huge smiles throughout not only this year but all 55 years. We would also like to thank our Governors and Ox Close Friends members, past and present, for volunteering and supporting our schools in their free time – we really appreciate it. Ox Close is a very special community where the children are the heart of everything that we do

Have a lovely break and I look forward to seeing you at Springmoor Grange School on Monday 9th September.

Celebrating OFSTED

July 4, 2024 by annabowden

As you know, the Primary were visited by Ofsted on 11 and 12th June for a graded inspection.

We are delighted to share with you that we received GOOD judgements in all areas.

Our children are the heart of the school and we are so proud that their polite, courteous and excellent behaviour has been recognised by the inspectors. It really is a happy, safe and exciting place to be. The staff’s hard work has also been recognised in particular their high expectations, nurture warm relationship with the children.

As always, we will be looking at ways we can continually improve and will make sure that we respond to the identified areas of improvement. Work has already started on focusing on further challenge for our more able children and we will be fine tuning the foundation curriculum plans to ensure that tasks and skills are matched to the age of the children.

Below is a copy of the report and it will also be available on  the Ofsted website by the end of the week:

Ox Close Primary School Ofsted Report – June 2024

To celebrate this fantastic achievement with children and staff, an ice cream van will be visiting in the final week of term.

Final Half Term at Ox Close

June 7, 2024 by annabowden

It was great to welcome the children back on Monday for the final half term of the academic year but also our final half term as Oxclose Nursery and Ox Close Primary School.  It is hard to believe how fast time has gone this year! The final half term is always a busy one with lots of events which the children enjoy taking part in. All of the key dates have been included in the diary dates section of the Newsletter. We look forward to seeing parents/carers at these events but also understand that you cannot attend them all – please be rest assured that the children will still take part fully in the events and have lots of fun. As we approach the end of term, there will be the opportunity for parents and carers to visit Ox Close to reminisce on memories and have a final look at the school – more details about this will follow.

Federation Closed – Thursday 4th July – Polling Station

May 24, 2024 by annabowden

I am sure that you have heard on the news that a General Election has been called for Thursday 4th July. Unfortunately, the Federation will be closed on that date due to the site being used as a Polling Station. I must stress that this is a decision taken out of my hands and that myself and the Chair of Governors have strongly challenged previously. The closure is due to safeguarding and health and safety reasons. We apologise for the inconvenience that this will cause.

Welcome Back to the Summer Term

April 19, 2024 by annabowden

It is great to have all of the children back in Nursery and School following the Easter break for our final term as Ox Close Federation. They have all settled back into routine well and we have been thrilled to welcome new children to the Nursery. The Summer Term is always a busy term, with children taking part in lots of different learning activities, visits, the Y6 residential and assessments taking place at different points. It will be even more exciting with the addition of events to celebrate the end of Ox Close. We look forward to seeing parents/carers at different events across the term.

Happy Easter!

March 28, 2024 by annabowden

We have had another amazing term across the Federation! It has been great to see the children engaged, motivated and making great progress with their learning. We have had opportunities for parents/carers to join us in school and more of these are planned for the Summer Term. The children (and staff!) have loved taking part in all of the Easter activities – from an outstanding Nursery Easter Bonnet Parade, egg jarping, egg decorating and our spectacular Eggs Factor which was held yesterday. We hope that the children made lots of memories that they will treasure. I would like to thank all of Team Ox Close for the continued support and wish you all a fabulous Easter break. I look forward to seeing you on Monday 15th April for our final term as Ox Close.
